This 14k yellow gold ring is centered by a bright, oval cabochon-cut turquoise. The open-worked band has been designed to resemble ivy stems, with two ivy leaves on each side of the turquoise.

Ivy was often used as a motif in the 19th Century, since this tenacious plant was seen as a symbol of everlasting love, devotion, and loyalty. It is therefore quite likely that this ring was originally gifted as a token of love, maybe as a betrothal ring.
